How HUMHR
Was Born
HUMHR began long before it became a formal business. For years, I was the person friends (and friends of friends) would call when they were facing career decisions.
- Which role should I apply for?
- How do I negotiate between two offers?
- Am I ready for leadership?
- How do I manage conflict at work?
Should I leave? Should I stay?
What started as informal conversations became consistent requests for CV reviews, contract advice, performance management strategies, and career clarity sessions. I became a sounding board for complex professional decisions. At first, I did this in my spare time. But as the feedback grew and as I saw how strategic insight could lead to real, sometimes life-changing outcomes, I realized this was more than informal advice. It was a calling. The satisfaction of helping someone see their strengths clearly, make a confident decision, or secure an aligned opportunity is difficult to describe. That deep sense of purpose is what led to the formal creation of HUMHR.
HUMHR is a boutique consultancy firm partnering with Humanitarians and Aid organisations to provide career development solutions and talent search services.
We believe that talented and inspired people are needed for the successful implementation of programs.
We partner with you to develop career marketing documents that tell your true story and work with you one on one to create a career search strategy that works.

Batje Chibafa is the Founder and Managing Partner of HUMHR, a career and leadership advisory platform dedicated to helping professionals design purposeful, strategic, and fulfilling careers. She is also the host of HUMHR Career Insights, a global podcast amplifying career and leadership voices across Africa and its diaspora.
With over 15 years of HR and talent advisory experience across the humanitarian, international NGO, and private sectors, Batje brings a deep, global perspective to her practice. Her work spans leading HR interventions in the Caribbean, supporting talent acquisition initiatives in the United States, facilitating leadership development across Southern Africa, and advising professionals worldwide on long-term career growth.
Batje holds credentials as a Certified Professional Career Coach (CPCC) through the Professional Association of Resume Writers & Career Coaches (PARWCC) and is a Gallup-Certified CliftonStrengths Coach. A active member of the National Association of Resume Writers and a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) through HRCI, she grounds her coaching in a practical, strategic HR framework.

Throughout my career, I have been called upon for visionary ideas, thoughtful solutions, and steady guidance during moments of transition uncertainty and conflict.
